Conference materials available: Select OSG '05 presentation and workshop materials are now available at http://ms.gis.umn.edu/community/conferences/MUM3/. Important notice: As of June 3, 2005 we can no longer accept registrations for the Open Source Geospatial ’05 Conference. The response we have received has been overwhelming and we have reached the capacity of our conference venue. We are pleased with the response but know that the closing of registration will leave a number of people disappointed. We apologize for that.
OSG '05Open Source Geospatial '05, an international conference addressing geospatial data technologies developed by or of relevance to the Open Source community, will be held June 16-18, 2005 in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. The conference will bring together the MapServer, EOGEO, and OSGIS communities, but seeks to be more broadly inclusive. A committee has been working since July to design a program with elements that will interest participants from the novice to the expert. The conference strives to build on the successes and enthusiasm generated by previous, related meetings. The response to date from participants has been overwhelming. With the help of our community we have been able to build a conference program (approx. 260KB PDF document) that is interesting and diverse. While conference workshops are at capacity, the program includes over 50 presentations and technical sessions that are guaranteed to stimulate and inform. We are very pleased to have as keynote speakers Markus Neteler of the GRASS Project and Dirk-Willem van Gulik, President of Apache Software Foundation. All this plus a "demo fest," "lightening talks," "birds-of-a-feather" sessions, poster displays, and multiple-planned social events result in the conference we have been hoping for since last July. Refer to the Program page for further details. Sponsoring organizations will be critical to the success of the conference. Sponsor contributions are being used to keep meeting registration costs as low as possible to remove that barrier to participation. There are a number of manners and levels of sponsorship that your organization should consider. Open Source Geospatial '05 will offer a great opportunity to network with fellow geospatial data professionals, renewing old acquaintances and making new ones.
